Shari Beckford's Latest Song 'Miracle' Has a Strong Country Music Flavor

On July 24, Shari Beckford was centerstage at the Village Meeting Hall in Sunrise, South Florida. Occasion was a listening party for Miracle, her latest song.

The inspirational track was officially released three days later. Produced by Howard Keizs, it has a strong country music flavor, a sound Shari Beckford has favored since her youth.

“Miracle represents a new chapter in my musical journey. While I’ve always been passionate about creating music with a message of hope and faith, this song embraces a stronger country influence than my previous work,” she said. “It still reflects who I am at my core, someone who believes music should encourage, inspire, and connect with people but it does so through a fresh sound.”

The Jamaican singer has been recording music for six years. Not all of her songs are country-inspired, but Shari Beckford’s songs are inspired by giants such as Charley Pride — the genre’s first black star — Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

Miracle is one of the tracks from her EP of the same name which was also released on July 27. It also contains I Will Not Break, her first song; Hug, I’m A Woman, Angel or Demon and When I Die.

American country has had a massive following in Jamaica since the 1950s when it was known as Country and Western. Skeeter Davis, Jim Reeves and Marty Robbins, were some of the popular artists there.

“What draws me to country music is its honesty. Country songs tell real stories about life, faith, family, struggle and perseverance, things people experience every day,” said Shari Beckford. “As someone who grew up in Jamaica and now lives in the United States, I’ve always believed that emotions and storytelling transcend culture.”
