Leba Hibbert of The Maytals Is Scheduled to Start New Tour in May
With her third tour as lead singer of The Maytals scheduled to start in May, Leba Hibbert is preparing to hit the road with songs of her own.
One of those songs is Judas, which she produced.
"The message behind Judas is self-explanatory. It’s all about betrayal and deception, pretenders, hypocrites and parasites," she dislosed.
She recorded the single in late 2025 with members of her Maytals band including guitarist Leebert "Gibby" Morrison, drummer Arlando Bolt, keyboardist Gregory Palmer and bassist Daniel "Axeman" Thompson.
Okiel Mckentyre on trumpet and saxophonist Deshaun Fender also played on Judas.
Leba's upcoming European trek is dubbed ‘Reggae Got Soul: 50th Anniversary Tour’. It is scheduled to start on May 7 in Cardiff, Wales at Y Plas.
The tour ends on May 30 at Ashton Hall in Lancaster, and will also make stops in Bristol, London, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester.
Reggae Got Soul is the title of Toots and The Maytals’ 1976 album, which was released by Island Records.
In April and May, 2025, Leba did her maiden tour of the United Kingdom as leader of The Maytals, a legendary band led for over 50 years by her father Toots Hibbert, who died in 2020.
The previous year, she did several shows in the United States. Her act is based largely around songs made famous by her father, such as 54-46, Pressure Drop and Funky Kingston.
Leba also plans to release You’ve got a Friend, a cover of the Carole King classic she did with her father.
