City of Miramar Honors Veterans During COVID-19 With a Free Meal and Commemorative Gift for Veteran’s Day

MIRAMAR, FL  –The City of Miramar celebrated veterans in the community by gifting them with a token of appreciation in honor of Veteran’s Day. The gift package included a hot catered meal, a duffle bag with a patriotic cap, mask, pin and other goodies. Veterans were able to pre-register on Eventbrite to have the gift packages delivered to their doorsteps. They also had the option of picking up the packages in-person at Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar.

veteranMayor Wayne Messam joined the Parks and Recreation staff as well as members of the Miramar Police and Fire Departments on visits to the veterans’ homes to personally thank them for their service and to gift them with the special packages.

Mayor Wayne Messam stated, “I am happy that we were able to find a creative way to honor our veterans this year instead of holding a ceremonial gathering as we’ve done in past years. We are all here today because our veterans were willing to sacrifice everything, and we will be forever grateful.”

Veteran Glenn Sanford added, “I’m at a loss for words on how I feel about the Miramar Veteran Day salute distribution package. I’m beyond appreciative. Thanks for the love bestowed upon us veterans. This gratitude is well received. I will wear my memorabilia with honor and pride.”
