Chairwoman Edmonson Doubles Reward for Tip Leading to Arrest in Drive-by Shooting of 7-Year-Old Girl, Toddler and Family

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson will match Miami-Dade Police and Crime Stoppers’ $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of Saturday’s drive-by shooting in Brownsville that killed 7-year-old Alana Washington and also wounded 2-year-old Alto Jacobs III, along with a man and a woman. The match brings the total reward to $10,000.

alanaAlana Washington “I am beyond heartbroken; I am incensed,” Chairwoman Edmonson said. “No family should have to feel this agony, especially not at the hands of cowards that drive by a home and riddle it with bullets without caring where a bullet is fired or whom it may hit, harm or kill. This County has taken a proactive role in fighting to eradicate senseless gun violence, including summer youth employment programs and anti-gun violence initiatives. And yet, just one shooting can set back efforts and leave you despondent. I will not rest until we solve this incident and other shootings that wreak havoc on our communities, and I plead with the community to help us solve this crime.”

The shooting took place at about 8 p.m. on July 25 at Northwest 51st Street and Northwest 29th Avenue.
