Miami-Dade County Public Schools has served the community over the last century, improving education and offering quality programs for families. Over 75 years ago, the school district took it a step further, offering its first adult and community education program at Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center. The adult and community education program was developed in order to serve a growing population of ambitious members in the community who were looking for a way to enter the workforce.
Lifelong philanthropist Joan Kennedy Stout and the Hugoton Foundation made a gift of $150,000 to the BenjamÃn LeÃ³n School of Nursing at Miami Dade Collegeâ€™s Medical Campus. The Hugoton Foundation has supported MDC since the 1980s. The foundation is committed to patient safety and efficiencies required for the delivery of high-quality nursing services.
MIAMI (Jan. 5, 2017) â€” FIUâ€™s Department of Multicultural Programs and Services will honor Martin Luther King Jr., with a month-long celebration inspired by Kingâ€™s lifelong dedication to equality and peace. One of the highlights will be the annual MLK Commemorative Breakfast, which will take place at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 in the Graham Center Ballrooms at FIUâ€™s MMC, located at 11200 SW 8th St. in west Miami-Dade. Immediately after the breakfast, at 11 a.m., university and student leaders will unveil a new Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Bust on the lawn between the Graham Center and Green Library. Ysmelio Lopez, from Cimagos Nursery, donated the sculpture to FIU, along with a similar one that will be located at BBC.
