Mattocks, a 29-year-old striker who played for F.C. Cincinnati during the 2019 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, scoring three goals, has been charged with one count of a false, fraudulent or incomplete insurance claim and another count of theft by deception in Carroll Township.
While Mattocks reportedly trained with the club during the first leg of preseason in Arizona, he was absent from the second leg preseason training in Florida.
Even before his legal woes began, Mattocks 2020 tenure with FC Cincinnati looked bleak.
“To be honest,” then FC Cincinnati head coach Ron Jans said in a recent conference call, “he’s not into the plans.”
Mattocks was scheduled to return to court late last month for a formal arraignment, court documents noted.
The striker has played in 182 MLS games, scoring 37 goals. He has 18 goals in 49 internationalsfor Jamaica.
