Miami FC Earns Dramatic Win Over Impact

The Miami FC Blues fought hard to regain the lead in their 2-1 home game victory over the Montreal Impact. Abe Thompson scored a dramatic goal in the 82ndminute to propel Miami FC to victory. Miami will now travel to Rochester to face the first place Rochester Rhinos. Kick off is set for 7:30 pm.

“You know, the playoff situation looming, you know you need to win a game like this. The win is big it keeps us alive and we told the guys in the locker room we’re not going to lying down for anybody, we’re going to keep fighting until they tell us we’re dead, and you know we’re still alive, so our guys knew that coming into the game and we played a really good team tonight. I think our guys deserve a lot of credit.” Said Head Coach Daryl Shore.

Miami FC’s Matt Glaeser, starting his first game of the year, began the match with a brilliant save snuffing the Impact’s initial attack.

Four minutes later, Chukwudi “Chuky” Chijindu made a brilliant combination play with Christian Gomez. Chijindu passed the ball to Gomez on the top of the box, and Gomez laid a beautiful back heel to a streaking Chijindu who unleashed a violent shot right into the chest of the Impact goalkeeper.

The Blues continued to press offensively and in the 17th minute Lennon Celestino would produce the Blues most dangerous attack. Lennon crossed a ball deep into the Impact box, which was destined for goal but denied by the post keeping the score at zero.

In the 27th minute the Impact were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Miami FC box. Philippe Billy launched a violent free kick that ricocheted off the cross bar

Toward the end of the first half Chijindu once again linked up with his teammate to form a nice string of passes. This time he started the combination with Danilo Martins and was left with enough space to get off a good shot. Chijindu was fouled during the shot and Miami FC was awarded a free kick.

Christian Gomez executed a perfect free kick towards the bottom right hand corner and put the Blues up 1-0.

The second half provided more physical and attacking play than the first half. In the 51stminute Impact’s Ali Gerba had a close shot, from the top of the box which was saved by Miami FC’s keeper Matt Glaeser. Later on the 53rd minute, Montreal Impact would get their goal by the way of sub Eddy Sebrango, off a chip pass from Gerba, tying the game at one.

The Blues were relentless to take the lead, a shot from the outside flank in the 74th minute from Christian Gomez would be denied by Impact keeper Matt Jordan.

Miami FC’s game winning goal was scored by Abe Thompson on the 83rd minute after a brilliant pass from J.P. Rodriguez. Thompson made brilliant run and the ball dropped right inside the box, Thompson calmly put the ball away giving the Blues a dramatic three points.
