"Dancing With The UNIAMI Stars"

Prominent Figures On The UM Campus Will Compete For The Title - March 3rd At 8pm Coral Gables, FL(February 22, 2011)

University of Miami’s Mad Hot Miami Ballroom presents "Dancing with the UMiami Stars." Prominent figures on the UM campus have been paired with a partner/choreographer from Mad Hot Miami Ballroom's Competition & Performance Team.

The final competitive event will be taking place on-campus, Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 8 PM on the UC Patio Stage (1306 Stanford Drive, Coral Gables) and is open to the public. At this time, winners will be announced in each category and receive a medal.

There will be a viewer’s choice award as well. Routines will include waltz, foxtrot, tango, cha cha, samba, and rumba.

The UM all-star line-up includes Sebastian (Mascot), Ricardo Hall (Dean of Students), Christina Farmer (Student Government Association President), Rita Zeidan (Salsa Craze President), Rickey Pierre II (Head Choreographer for KAOS), and Rochelle Bradley (Sunsations Captain).

The event will also feature a guest routine from the United States Youth Finalist (Ohio Star Ball) – Ashley Sanchez.The event is being judged by Ana Chacon, who is ABC’s Miami local ten dance expert and former US Champion; Alex Koulik, who has trained several US Champions; and Susie Thompson, who was a five-time undefeated US Champion.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Miami Ballroom dance lessons take place every Thursday throughout the school year in the University Center Ballrooms (1306 Stanford Drive, Coral Gables) at 6pm.
