The world's fastest man, Jamaica's Assafa Powell, will no longer be competing in the Golden Gala in Rome.

Powell fell out of the much-anticipated clash with American Justin Gatlin, due to an injury he suffered when he fell during qualifiers for the 10th IAAF World Championships.

Reports indicate the 22-year-old is nursing a groin injury.

But World champion, Kittian Kim Collins, will represent the Caribbean at the meet that will also see former world and Olympic champion Maurice Greene and John Capel going for the gold.

The Golden Gala is one of six competitions in the Golden League series. The first meet in the series was last Friday in Paris. Later this month, track and field's top athletes will gather in Oslo, then head to Zurich, Brussels and Berlin.
