With the 2010 Iditarod set to get underway Saturday, March 6 in Anchorage, Alaska, Jamaican musher Newton Marshall appears set to build on the island’s foray in winter adventure sports, and Jamaicans and supporters alike are being encouraged to take part in “Rootin’ for Newton.” Persons can show their support for the “Rootin for Newton” campaign by visiting the Jamaica Dogsled Team website at http://jamaicadogsled.spreadshirt.com/.

ImageMiami FC moves one step closer to kick-starting a new era of professional soccer in South Florida by announcing today the promotion of Assistant Coach, Victor Pastora, to the position of Head Coach for the 2010 season. Pastora replaces Crizam Cézar de Oliveira Filho, best known as “Zinho”.

Pastora, 34, has been an assistant coach since the formation of the club. He has had experience as an interim Head Coach with Miami FC, taking over in August 2007 for then-coach Chiquinho de Assis. He also served as the director of coaching for Kendall Soccer Coalition and has a United States Soccer Federation “A” Coaching License.

Miami FC continued to build its roster for the 2010 season with the signings of JP Rodrigues and Jarryd Goldberg.

The team is going back to its roots with defender JP Rodrigues, a member of the inaugural Miami FC team who also played during the 2007 and 2008 regular seasons. In that span, Rodrigues played in 51 games and had one goal in over 4,500 minutes of play.

ImageJamaican American skier, Errol Kerr, is set to represent Jamaica on the ice at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver this Sunday.

Kerr will compete in the Men`s Ski Cross competition which will be on Feb. 21 at 9:15 a.m. PST. Kerr who is the only athlete in the Jamaican Ski Team will attempt to qualify for the event which will take place on Cypress Mountain.
