Submitted by John MessamCaribbean Today Contributor Women’s 400 Metres FinalsRose-Marie Whyte turned into the straight with a clear lead and looked the winner but Novelene Williams-Mills’ constancy in the last 100 metres swept her past Whyte in final of the the 400m.  Sixth at the top of the straightaway, Christine Day’s resolute stretch run carried her past Williams 51.39, Lloyd 51.70 and Blake 51.83 to finish in third position..
Sunil Narine said he was “still high on confidence” as he prepared to face New Zealand in the Digicel Twenty20 International Series in the United States this weekend. The NASL has named Fort Lauderdale Strikers midfielder Mark Anderson Offensive Player of the Week. Anderson scored both goals in the Strikers’ 2-1 victory against the Carolina RailHawks at Lockhart Stadium on Saturday, June 30th. “Mark’s a special player, he’s not only good at scoring goals, he also sets up his teammates,” said Strikers head coach Daryl Shore. “Mark gets what he deserves because he works so hard for it.”
