Miami FC will take on the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup in a high-stakes match that will take the renewed in-state rivalry to new heights on Tuesday, June 22. The match is set for a 7:30 p.m. start time at Lockhart Stadium. Fans will be able to take advantage of a 2-for-1 ticket deal for admission.
The Miami FC Blues and the Austin Aztex are meeting for an epic showdown. The team who comes out on top will bring home much more than a win as representatives from both cities have placed a friendly wager that will build the rivalry between the two clubs.
Despite a hard-fought second half effort, Miami FC was unable to defeat the Austin Aztex at home as a late penalty kick gave the visiting Aztex a 2-1 victory as the Blues prepare for an extended road trip. The Blues will travel out west to take on the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday, June 29 in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup. The match is set to begin at 8:30 p.m. EST.
County Commissioner Joe A. Martinez celebrated “Miami-Wade County Proclamation” signaling the start of the We Want Wade Week with our beloved #33, Alonzo Mourning, who is also the Vice President of Player Programs. County Commissioners Dorrin D. Rolle and Rebeca Sosa also participated in the celebration, which included the unveiling of a customized county logo featuring Heat colors and Dwyane Wade's name. Burnie, the official mascot of the Miami HEAT, and the dancers energized hundreds of fans of all ages who were waving signs and cheering “We Want Wade” at the lobby of the Stephen Clark Center. Many Wade admirers wrote messages in an oversized card asking him to stay in his county. The event took place Wednesday, June 30, 2010, a day before the start of the NBA free-agency negotiating period.
