City of Miramar, Florida —Yvette Colbourne, Vice Mayor, City of Miramar, Fl, has been appointed Vice Chair of the National League of Cities (NLC) 2021 Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations (FAIR) Federal Advocacy Committee. Vice Mayor Colbourne was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities. The appointment was announced by NLC President Mayor Vince Williams of Union City, Georgia.
MIAMI, Florida – The South Dade Black History Center Advisory Board, one of the 11 boards under the Office of Community Advocacy, recently hosted the Basel South Black Art Show at the Larcenia J. Bullard Plaza in Miami. The 3-day event featured the work of local artists to provide the South Dade community with an art event during Art Basel Weekend. The opening night reception began with a moment of silence and candle lighting to honor the legacy of Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek, the first Black person to represent Florida in the House of Representatives, who served five terms; she will be remembered as a fighter for job creation, and programs for the betterment of the community.

On Saturday December 18th of the year Two Thousand and Twenty One, Nicolas Charles Webley and Kristin Evonne Spoto united under God. MIAMI, Florida - This week, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners approved Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s proposal to extend concessionaire agreements at Miami International Airport (MIA) that ensure all workers at MIA earn a living wage. Employees of food and retail vendors at MIA will now earn $17.62 per hour, above Florida’s minimum wage of just $10 an hour.
