David Wagga Hunt Foundation Disburses Some JA$30 Million in Scholarship Funds to Calabar and KC

Over the past fifteen years, the Washington based David Wagga Hunt Foundation has disbursed some forty-six scholarships valuing over thirty one million Jamaican dollars to students at Calabar and Kingston College.

I commend the Foundation for its unwavering commitment to its mission of providing scholarships to deserving students at Kingston and Calabar Colleges.

The Ambassador pointed out that this year, the foundation has increased their disbursement of scholarships by fifty percent, where some 24 students at both institutions will receive scholarships amounting to JA$ 3.6 million.

She said the foundation does not only assist students in Jamaica, but also Jamaican students attending Howard University, thus demonstrating the foundation’s dedication to supporting the educational journey of young Jamaicans at home and abroad.

She made note of the fact that the foundation had achieved its target for the night of US$ 20-thousand dollars which will go a far way in turning many student’s dreams into reality.

The Government of Jamaica is proud to have the David Wagga Hunt Scholarship initiative as a partner in our shared vision of a brighter future for Jamaica, Ambassador Marks said.

The Ambassador commended the two awardees: Dr. Henry Lowe and Mr. Lorne Donaldson, “whose remarkable contributions have not only advanced their fields but illuminated the way for future generations. Dr. Lowe's innovations and service, alongside Mr. Donaldson's commitment to women's football exemplifies the spirit of excellence and community.”

The David 'Wagga' Hunt Scholarship, named after the late KC past student, football coach, and community pillar, embodies the essence of potential unleashed. It supports students who demonstrate academic excellence, active participation in extracurricular activities, and a need for financial assistance, ensuring that Hunt's legacy of leadership and passion for sports continues to inspire.
