4H_Science_DayOn October 10th, 81 students at Horace Mann Middle School became scientists for the day during the fifth annual 4-H National Youth Science Day (NYSD). As part of 4-H NYSD, youth participated in the 4-H Eco-Bot Challenge: the 2012 National Science Experiment.

Designed by The Ohio State University Extension, this year's experiment introduced youth to robotic engineering concepts as they program a robot to clean up a simulated environmental spill. The 4-H Eco-Bot Challenge demonstrated that by utilizing engineering principles, youth can have a positive impact on communities and ecosystems.

On Sunday, November 25th at 4:00 p.m. the Miami Bach Society under the direction of Donald Oglesby, artistic director, will presents Bach’s exquisite holiday masterpiece, the Christmas Oratorio. It will be held at the first United Methodist Church of Coral Gables. Performing under Dr. Oglesby’s direction will be the University of Miami-Frost School of Music’s Collegium Musicum and the Miami Bach Society’s Chamber Players. The performance is cosponsored by the German Consulate in Miami.


Featuring tenor Tony Boutté, as the Evangelist other soloists include Alissa Roca, soprano, Katherine Wiggins, mezzo-soprano, Jeffery Williams, baritone and Carl DuPont, bass-baritone. These soloists and other singers: Katherine Kupchik, soprano, John Guarente, countertenor, Justin Moniz, tenor and Jeremy Zglobicki, tenor will comprise a newly formed vocal chamber ensemble, Vox/Arcanum.

NASL Awards New Franchise to Virginia

The NASL Announced today in conjunction with VIP Sports & Entertainment it has awarded a new franchise in the Northern Virginia area. Partnering with Loudoun Professional Soccer, LLC (LPS) and the North American Soccer League (NASL), the franchise will debut in 2014 playing its home games at the future Ballpark located at One Loudoun in Ashburn, VA.

Continuing its strategy of delivering exceptional sports and entertainment options to Northern Virginia, VIP Sports & Entertainment announces that it is partnering with Loudoun Professional Soccer, LLC (LPS), who have been awarded a franchise in the North American Soccer League (NASL). The franchise will debut in 2014 playing its home games at the future Ballpark located at One Loudoun in Ashburn, VA.
