Team of Miami-based Physicians Hosts Unprecedented Event for Medical Community in Nassau. Baptist Health International, a division of Baptist Health South Florida, hosted a multi-specialty symposium at Atlantis in Paradise Island, presenting the latest medical advancements and new technology in a variety of fields.
Approximately 150 doctors from The Bahamas, along with representatives from the Ministry of Health, attended the event to learn about breakthroughs from Baptist Health South Florida physicians in town for this first-time event.
Broward County is saving lives through a $105,000 County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Grant being administered by the Broward Regional EMS Council and coordinated by the Broward County Office of Medical Examiner and Trauma Services.
The grant awarded to Broward County fire rescue providers is for the implementation of the LIFENET System that enables paramedics, in the field, to rapidly identify a possible heart attack patient and then transmit a 12-lead Electrocardiogram (ECG), via wireless modem, directly to the receiving hospital.

More than 50 physicians in the fields of internal medicine, cardiology, interventional radiology and vascular surgery from Latin America and the Caribbean attended the two-day conference held at Baptist Hospital's Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute in Miami.
Symposium directors Barry T. Katzen, M.D., founder and medical director of Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute, and Niberto Moreno, M.D., chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Baptist Health South Florida, together with co-director Antonio Brice, M.D., presented the latest advancements in the field.
The Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade (HSCMD) has partnered with Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe (ELCMDM) to host the Family Summer Kick-Off, a fun-filled day promoting childhood health, education and safety for pregnant women and families with children up to age eight.
