First Two Parish Festival Queens Named

Coronations continue for Jamaica 55.  As we continue to celebrate Jamaica 55, the build up to the National Coronation of the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition has stepped in high gear in during the month of May. St. Mary and St. Thomas were the first two parishes to crown their Festival Queens in separate coronations on Saturday, May 6. Ava-Gail Lindsay is Miss St. Mary Festival Queen 2017, while Annastacia Goulbourne now wears the 2017 Miss St. Thomas Festival Queen Crown.

Lindsay was crowned at the parish coronation, held at the St. Mary Anglican Church Hall in Port Maria on Saturday Night. First Runner up was Ren-Nesha Blake, who also took home the sectional prizes for Most Active in the Community, Most Poised, Most Culturally Aware and Most Popular on Social Media.

Sammy-Joe Mitchell took home the title of second runner up as well as the sectional prizes for Most Congenial and Best Performance.

St. Thomas

St. Thomas’ Coronation was held at Colonel Cove in Morant Bay, also on Saturday night. In addition to her being crowned Parish Queen Goulbourne also received the sectional prizes for Most Active in the Community, Most Poised and Most Culturally Aware.

Miss St Thomas Fest Queen Annastacia GoulbourneFirst runner up Camesha Little also received the sectional prize for best performance while second runner up Kimberly Thompson received the sectional prize for Most Popular on Social Media. Meanwhile the prize for Most Congenial went to Kadene Grace.

Mother’s Day Weekend Crowning

The 2017 Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition will continue to see parish coronations being held throughout the month of May. Saturday May 13 will see St. Elizabeth’s coronation at the Alpart Sports Club in Nain, and Kingston and St. Andrew’s coronation at The Louise Bennett Garden Theatre at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, both beginning at 8:00 p.m.

Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14 will see Trelawny’s coronation at the Historic Falmouth Cruise Port and St. Ann’s coronation at the Sandals Ochi Beach Club in Ocho Rios, both also beginning at 8:00 p.m.
