The children of the Diaspora are being called home, around the world, and they cannot hear the call. Africa is the richest continent on the planet, and many African Americans do not understand that they are Africans. African Americans and Black people around the globe must understand they are Africans and they have a dual allegiance to the country they reside, and to mother Africa.
I especially love the turn of year as it provides a wonderful opportunity not just to look back and take stock of the year that has passed, but more importantly to look to the year that lies ahead.
Kwanzaa was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, professor and chairmen of Black Studies at California State University, Long Beach. In 1966, Blacks/African Americans were searching for their identity, and challenging racism, discrimination, the right to vote, education, and White supremacy. This decade was marked by the civil rights movement, the Vietnam War, political assassinations, and a very divisive counterculture.
Where is the rage from the Black Community on the impeachment of President Donald Trump? The Black community in 2019 appears to be invisible and lethargic when it comes to politics, and as a collaborative force no one seems to care.
