ImageSandals Resorts is pleased to share new details regarding the previously-announced over-the-water suites project at Sandals Grande St. Lucian Spa & Beach Resort. After receiving approval from the St. Lucian government, Sandals Resorts is proceeding with construction plans currently on-schedule to begin in early 2011. These suites, which will be the first-of-their-kind in theCaribbean, are set to begin welcoming guests in 2012. In addition to the newly opened, all-butler Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma, Bahamas, the over-the-water suites will help further introduce guests to the next level of the Sandals Resorts Luxury Included® vacation experience.

The Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association hosted its second annual Star Award Show at the Beaches Resort & Spa on Thursday February 25th.

The Star Award Show is an annual event that recognises and celebrates the contributions of those in the hospitality industry through awards in select areas and categories. This year there were 15 categories in total, including the Lifetime Achievement Award which is awarded to an individual who over their lifetime has made a significant difference in the industry and has contributed great accomplishments in the Turks and Caicos Islands. An additional category was added to the line up this year; that of Entertainer of the Year. This title celebrates a person or group displaying the greatest expertise in all aspects of the entertainment field.

ImageHoliday Inn Resorts Aruba & Jamaica were among the many proud sponsors of The Dempsey Challenge, a non-competitive race in which participants are challenged to cycle, run or walk to raise funds in support of The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing. The Dempsey Center provides free support, education and wellness services to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. The event held recently in Lewiston, Maine raised more than $1 million.
Anguilla’s Wallblake Airport over the Holiday season continued to show quiet resilience, creating confident optimism with the arrival of private jets attributing to the increase in US visitor arrivals, an indication that the challenging economic environment may have given way to pent-up demand and cautiously optimistic economic news. Fixed based Operator, Lloyds Aviation, proudly boasted one of their busiest days to date (January 2, 2010) handling some 37 jets including Gulfstreams 4s and 5s, Falcon 900s, Citations, Lear Jets, Challengers, Hawkers, Astras, Embraer 135s, Global Expresses and Galaxies. The activity began in late December 2009 and continued through the first half of January 2010 with celebrity and VIP passengers staying at the signature luxury resorts and renowned super villas that dot the island. Anguilla Air Services and Trans Anguilla continue to offer daily inter-island connections while Anguilla Air Express offers executive charter flights via San Juan, Puerto Rico.
