Porthole Cruise Magazine, the leading North American consumer magazine in the field, has named Saint Lucia the Best Caribbean Island for 2010.In the magazine's Editor-In-Chief's 2010 Awards, Saint Lucia received the number one selection, while Soufrière's Jade Mountain was named the Best Caribbean Resort.
A pilot project aimed at educating some of the island's teachers in hospitality studies ended here last week with a small graduation ceremony. The training exercise was spearheaded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and facilitated by the Caribbean Institute of International Hospitality Management and Culinary Art (CIIHMC) and the Securities and Commerce Institute (SCI), the Master Licensee of the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). The "Certified Hospitality Instructor Training" was held over three weeks, May 4-20, culminating in the graduation ceremony for five teachers at the NIC Conference Room. The activity was presided over by Sameera Bhalla president of CIIHMC. According to Dr. Michael Terry, the instructor who has trained persons all over the globe, the teachers were a wonderful group to work with and a group to be proud of.

One of the best-selling artists of all time with more than 30 million records and 100 million singles sold, Rihanna has signed a multi-year deal with The Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) to exclusively promote her hometown island of Barbados as a tourist destination.  The three-year partnership officially kicks off in Bridgetown, Barbados on August 5, 2011 with a full-length concert of her current "Loud" tour produced by the BTA and Roc Nation.
