This dish was brought by Mexicans fleeing The Caste War of Yucatán to the north of Belize at some point in the latter half of the 19th century. It is typically served on special occasions, such as Christmas Day or New Years Day.

The workshops will run from Wednesday, March 20, through Tuesday, April 9, in preparation for Jamaica’s premier culinary arts competition.
