Winners of the 2016 Drive It Home Trash-Off Greek and Club Recycling Challenge have been announced as part of the Earth Day 2016 celebrations. The Florida Department of Transportationâ€™s (FDOT) Drive It Home team partnered with The Coca-Cola Company to present this state-wide college competition. The Challenge is part of the Great American Clean-Up initiative and the stateâ€™s litter prevention education media campaign. Utilizing a social media platform, the campaign received entries from students representing various greek and social clubs from accredited colleges and universities throughout the state of Florida.

A chemical used to disperse oil following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill has been proven to severely harm and even kill jellyfish. A study by FIUâ€™s Southeast Environmental Research Center found crude oil and weathered oil alone did not cause significant adverse effects in moon jellyfish, a species commonly found in the Gulf of Mexico where the spill occurred.
Although March 27 through April 2 is generally recognized as Tsunami Preparedness Week, different states designate different times (though most choose March and April). Those who live on the U.S. East Coast are used to hurricane preparedness, preparing for tsunamis is very different. Some Americans live in higher risk areas for tsunamis, while others may visit one either for pleasure or business.
