Ingrid C. Forbes Bio

Ingrid Christene Forbes, Chemistry/ Quality assurance manager at Kappa Laboratories in Miami is the first Caribbean American to be appointed City Commissioner for the city of North Miami Beach, in Miami-Dade County.

Commissioner Ingrid Forbes PortraitThe Commission voted to appoint Ms. Forbes from a pool of 17 individuals on June 14, 2018, in recognition for her dedication to the community, where she has served as a volunteer on the Public Utilities Commission and Beautification Committee for a number of years.

Commissioner Forbes has more than 20 years of experience as a professional food chemist and civic leader. As a quality assurance manager, she is responsible for ensuring compliance and preparation for internal audits for laboratory quality assurance. She holds both a Masters and Bachelors in Food Science from the University of Florida. Her passion for public service is evident from her many volunteer accomplishments. She is a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes, served as a Kiwanis Division secretary, a volunteer for Christmas in July, Board member of Just Care for Kids, and the Lawrence Rowe Foundation.

Her accolades include Distinguished Alumni recognition from Broward College’s Science and Wellness wall of fame.   Her love of people and dedication is an influence of her close ties to her parents Rawlston and Barbara Forbes and her family. The second of five, Ingrid attended Alpha Academy High School in Kingston, Jamaica before migrating to Miami, Florida. Her passion also includes volunteering with her church choir. She has demonstrated integrity, empathy, and respect for others in all her endeavors and she is committed to serving the North Miami Beach community.
