Sporting a Santa hat and red jacket, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan played the role of Saint Nick when she delivered hundreds of toys to children at two Head Start Centers in Miami Gardens. Recently, Commissioner Jordan brought smiles to the faces of 2-5 year olds at the Ophelia Brown and Miami Gardens Head Start Centers in District 1. ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…“We sometimes take for granted the number of children who don’t have a Christmas tree, let alone any toys to go underneath that tree,” said Commissioner Jordan. “In this economy, families are struggling to put food on the table. That is their primary responsibility. Toys are now secondary.”
Broward County Commissioner Dale V.C. Holness has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Cricket Hall of Fame for his efforts to support and promote the sport in South Florida. The Rev. Ouida McDonald, a Florida member of the Cricket Hall of Fame, presented the Commissioner with the certificate during the Commission meeting on Tuesday, December 13.  "This certificate was brought to Broward County by Michael Chambers, the director of the Cricket Hall of Fame on his first visit to our Cricket Stadium," said Rev. McDonald. "The high level of this competitive sport has brought many history breaking events to our Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium, which is the first in the USA."

While leading a trade mission to Israel this week, Governor Rick Scott met with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Accompanied by members of the trade mission delegation from Florida, Governor Scott and the Prime Minister discussed the economic and cultural relationship between Israel and Florida.
