Nov. 11, 2016: Caribbean American voters disappointed with the results of the U.S. election are finding some comic relief in “going back home” memes which have popped up across social media. A popular meme making their round with Jamaican Americans is of a plane, overflowing with people with the words: “When Trump Win … Jamaica here we come.”
There is no need to repeat what we’ve already heard on the news last night and today. Many of us are grieving, scared, or still in shock. That is normal.

The City of Miami Gardens has a new Vice Mayor. At its October 26, 2016, City Council Meeting Councilman Erhabor Ighodaro was appointed by a unanimous vote of his colleagues to service as Vice Mayor for a two year period. Vice Mayor Ighodaro is an educator with a solid background in public management, urban justice, urban education, curricula design and implementation of best practice methodologies, educational public policy and the intervention and resolution of school and community based conflict.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Miami; Oct. 27, 2016) – Raquel Regalado, a candidate for Miami-Dade mayor, filed a complaint Thursday against Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Christina White for declaratory and injunctive relief. The lawsuit seeks to disqualify Gimenez and void any votes for him in the Nov. 8 election and both Regalado and her attorney will be available at a press conference Thursday morning.
