There is a lot of confusion and misinformation about how the world of health care is changing around us. The good news is that more people are gaining access to insurance coverage, but the bad news is that there are still 62 million people who do not have access to primary care.

Breastfeeding Awareness Walk, Saturday August 23, 2014

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program recognizes August as Breastfeeding Awareness Month and August 1 – 7th as World Breastfeeding Week.

For over two decades, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have reminded women and families of the vital importance of exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months of life and continued breastfeeding with complementary foods thereafter. This year’s theme Breastfeeding: A Winning Goal – For Life asserts the importance of increasing and sustaining the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding.
