The Federal Government Takes Action on Radon Gas to Prevent Lung Cancer Deaths in 2011. October 17th, 24th is Radon Awareness Week October 17-24 is Federal Radon Action Week according to The Surgeon General. Health agencies throughout the United States have joined forces to promote awareness of the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. The American Lung Association, Centers for Disease Control, and National Cancer Institute all agree that radon is a National health problem and encourage radon testing during the October awareness drive.
With the aim of becoming a local leader in the national fight against obesity, the Miami-Dade County Health Department (MDCHD) has launched a comprehensive initiative to inform communities and constituents of the grave health-related conditions caused by the lack of proper nutrition and physical activity. Supported by the Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) nationwide program, Miami-Dade County will be taking on its own fight against this health hazard, inspiring the people of its community to help bring legislative changes affecting the wellbeing of their children and of the entire constituency.

To achieve accreditation, Prestige underwent an extensive self-assessment and on-site review by the AAAHC surveyors including volunteer physicians, nurses and administrators. Florida Memorial University, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society (ACS), will host the third annual RELAY FOR LIFE event on April 9th-10th, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am on the University's Front Lawn. Formerly called the City of Destiny Classic 24-Hour Run Against Cancer, the Relay For Life is an enjoyable overnight event that is designed to celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, as well as to raise money for research and programs for the American Cancer Society. During the exciting all-night affair, different teams of people get together at a venue and take turns walking or running laps.
