Give Thanks For A Caribbean Salad

Thanksgiving Day may have passed, but there’s always time for a great meal you can share with friends with family. The Caribbean flavours I am thinking of incorporate are jerk seasoning, mango/pineapple and coconut cocktails. It’s my recipe for a Caribbean salad.

The Caribbean Travel Marketplace, the region's largest promotional event, will be held Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 at Atlantis Paradise Island in The Bahamas. Produced by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), in collaboration with The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association, the Nassau/Paradise Island Promotion Board and the Paradise Island Tourism Development Association, the event is scheduled to feature two days of business meetings that match buyers and suppliers through pre-scheduled appointments.

Norwegian recently announced it has received approval from the government of the Cuba to operate cruise service to the Caribbean island from the United States beginning March. All three of the company’s brands - Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises - will offer travellers from the U.S. the opportunity to visit Cuba.

Jan. 20 is the deadline for entries to be submitted for “2017 Black History Month” art and essay contests open to students in kindergarten through grade 12 in Florida. Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott recently extended the invitation to participate. Three students will each earn a four-year Florida College Plan scholarship based on the results of the contests.
