BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Neighbors have formed two solar co-ops, one for County residents who live east of US 441 and the other for residents who live west of US 441. The goal is to save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters. Broward County, Go Solar Florida and FL SUN are co-op sponsors.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Florida will observe Severe Weather Awareness Week, January 23rd to 27th to stress to all residents that severe weather can happen at any time, such as severe storms, tornadoes and hurricanes. The Broward County Emergency Management Division reminds residents that hazardous weather can occur in Florida at any time, such as the January tornado in Coconut Creek/Pompano Beach and Hurricane Matthew that threatened Broward County in October last year. Everyone needs to be prepared year-round.

Website Available to Claim Items Left at FLL

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Over 95 percent of the 23,000 items left at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) have already been returned to their rightful owners. Despite our best efforts, we could not return some items because they lacked identification. The baggage consultant hired by the County has photographed and placed these unreturned items on a website. The website (www.global-bms.com) is now live for passengers to search and claim bags and personal items left at FLL.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Kelvin Watson has been named the new Broward County Libraries Director, effective February 26, 2017. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President for Queens Library in New York City. The Queens Library serves 2.3 million people from 62 locations plus seven Adult Learning Centers and two Family Literacy Centers. It circulates among the highest numbers of books and other library materials in the country.
