Rhythms in Conversation Percussion Workshop

Presented by “Reggae Ambassador” Willie Stewart formerly of Third World

Instruments provided! 

FREE community interactive percussion workshop for ages 11 and up.  No experience needed. Reservations required!

Students will be immersed in a musical journey that includes ancient rhythms sprung from the souls of vibrant cultures and carried by hand and heart from Africa to the Caribbean and the Americas.  Participants will learn percussion techniques that form the bedrock of contemporary music, in addition to learning history, geography, vocabulary, musical theory, ethnic studies and math associated with the rhythms taught.

Ansin Family Art Gallery

In partnership with the Miramar Cultural Trust, Inc., an original art exhibition entitled, Soaring:  The Legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen in South Florida will be featured in the Ansin Family Art Gallery November 9 through December 29, 2017.

Winner of the NAACP Award for “Best Ensemble,” Black Angels Over Tuskegee, written by Layon Gray, is a true story of the Tuskegee Airmen, six men embarking upon a journey to become pilots in the US Army Air Forces.  Black Angels Over Tuskegee is a powerful and moving Off-Broadway play about the real life World War II heroes and the prejudices they endured. 

20-minute chat back immediately following the show featuring cast members Lamar K. Cheston, Craig Colasanti, Thaddeus L. Daniels, Layon Gray, Melvin P. Huffnagle, David N. Roberts and Lamman Rucker.

Join Florida Grand Opera’s Master Teacher, Young Artists, as well as guest singers from the community in a special FREE master class presentation.  From breath control to high notes, discover what it takes to be an opera singer.  This is your opportunity to understand how the human voice can transform notes on a page into a flesh and blood story.
