Commissioner Keon Hardemon, the chairman of the agency stated that “Overtown residents deserve a better quality of life and should not have to suffer from social ills presented by outsiders. The residents need the cooperation of our police in guaranteeing their neighbourhood is safe and drug-free.”
The meeting will be held on the public streets in an area that has been ground zero for the overdosing epidemic. The City of Miami Police is expected to give a presentation about the epidemic and how the grant dollars will be utilized to best serve the Overtown community.
