Jamaicaâ€™s Ambassador to the United States Audrey Marks is urging members of the diaspora to take advantage of investment opportunities in Jamaica. â€œIt is now time to formalize an investment pipeline with you, our own diaspora, especially as we seek to empower Jamaicans at home and abroad as a part of the commonwealth of Jamaica,â€ Marks said while delivering the keynote address at the Help Jamaica Medical Missionâ€™s 6th Annual Black Tie affair last month in New Jersey.
Social Security in the United States said it is committed to treating all Americans fairly. This extends to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people covered by Social Security programs. The U.S. recognizes same-sex couplesâ€™ marriages in all states, and some non-marital legal relationships, for purposes of determining entitlement to Social Security benefits, Medicare entitlement, and eligibility and payment amount for Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Some 20,000 Jamaicans have been deported from the United States over the past 10 years, according to Jamaicaâ€™s Ambassador to the U.S. Audrey Marks.

MIAMI â€“ Small business owners in Miami-Dade's District 4 are invited to apply for Commissioner Sally Heyman's Annual Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. Applicants may be eligible to receive up to $5,000, depending on the number of applicants, which can be used for purchasing equipment, supplies, inventory, commercial liability insurance, security systems, advertising and marketing and making minor renovations. Applications will be accepted February 6 through February 24, 2017.
