The Wings of Freedom Tour of the WWII Vintage Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B-24 Liberator and North American P-51 Mustang will be landing at Wings Over Miami this coming week.  The Foundation's visit is a wonderful opportunity for people who enjoy the larger planes to see these beautiful aircraft up close. This is the Miami community's opportunity to see the planes flying over the city as they take off and land. 
The Miami-Dade Black Affairs Advisory Board’s Heritage Planning Committee unveiled the 2012 Black History Month Exhibit recently with a program featuring music, entertainment and a ribbon cutting ceremony. Chairman Joe A. Martinez, along with County Commissioners Barbara Jordan, Jean Monestime, Xavier Suarez and members of the Black Affairs Advisory Board, honored African American women pioneers in South Florida as part of the ceremonies, which also paid tribute to several women trailblazers in the railroad industry.
Starting on Friday, October 1, 2010, Broward County Transit (BCT) will increase the cost of its bus fares and passes. The regular, one-way bus fare will increase from $1.50 to $1.75; the reduced, one-way fare for seniors age 65 years and over, youth age 18 years and under, and the disabled/Medicare passengers will increase from $.75 to $.85. Children 40 inches tall and under will still ride free.

The Miami-Dade County Asian-American Advisory Board, the Fruit & Spice Park and the Thai-American Association proudly present the 22nd annual Asian Culture Festival on Saturday & Sunday, March 3rd & 4th from 10 am to 6 pm at the Fruit & Spice Park located at 24801 SW 187 Avenue in Homestead. The fun-filled family event offers a virtual day trip to Asia where festival-goers will enjoy a variety of Asian arts, crafts, exotic music and dance, and authentic Far Eastern cuisine. Activities include a Malaysian no-hands volleyball tournament known as Sepak Takraw, Chinese Lion Dances, performances by Japanese Taiko drummers, and demonstrations of Thai fruit and vegetable carving.
