Sant La, the Haitian neighborhood center in South Florida, will hold its annual fundraiser from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, May 10, at the Alumni Center, University of Miami.
The Broward County public library in Miramar, a South Florida city where many Caribbean Americans call home, will host a series of programs this month.
Among the events, to be held at the Miramar Library, 2050 Civic Center Place, are citizen test preparation workshops; free tax preparation; book fair and bake sale; business workshop; yoga instructions; book club and diet advice.

As a prelude to Miami-Dade Public Library Systemâ€™s â€œInternational Art of Storytelling Family Festival Dayâ€, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 27 at the Main Library, the Library System will present â€œTales Under the Starsâ€ at 7 p.m. April 9 at the Key Biscayne Branch Library, 299 Crandon Blvd.
African American storyteller Donna Kokumo Buie, also known as Mama Koku, will headline the evening.

Beginning April 1, low-income individuals living in Miami-Dade County can receive assistance with their utility costs through the Community Action and Human Services Department Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
