Akwaeke Emezi is an Igbo and Tamil writer and video artist. Her debut novel, Freshwater (Grove Atlantic, February 13, 2018), is an Indie Next selection and has been listed as a most anticipated book of 2018 by EsquireELLECosmopolitanHuffington Post, the Rumpus and Bustle, among others. Her short story "Who Is Like God" won the 2017 Commonwealth Short Story Prize for Africa.

Blondie Ras Productions, creators of "Taste the Islands" television show will take the show's concept from the screen to a live event. With the co-sponsorship of City of Miramar Mayor, Wayne Messam, they are translating the show's exploration of exotic eats and the mystique of the islands into an event called The 'Taste the Islands' Experience.

Marlon Hill Wins BOMA AWARD

Congratulations to Marlon Hill, host of The People's Politics aired at 4:00 pm on Caribbean Riddims (3:00 to 6:00 p.m.) on WHIM 1080AM Saturdays. Hill was awarded the Best Communicator of Year on Independent Radio from Black Owned Media Alliance (BOMA) on Wednesday at the Hilton Hotel in Miami. The annual awards honors agencies, businesses and individuals who make a positive impact in the black community.
