The competition’s coveted Jury Prize is given annually to the top three artists with the best overall work, who are selected by a Jury of adjudicators who are notable artists within the Jamaican Art Industry.
The exhibition, which runs from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm daily is free and open to the public.
According to Director of Marketing and Public Relations at the JCDC, Stephen Davidson, “We heartily congratulate the 2017 Jury Prize winners as what they have achieved is no easy feat. This exhibition promises to be an exceptional one and we encourage the public, not just art lovers, to come out and experience the best of what our emerging and professional talent have to offer.”
Davidson continued “The JCDC Jamaica Visual Arts Competition & Exhibition is a 55 year old platform and strong visual arts tradition, which has afforded the unearthing and development of Jamaican art and artists. Part of the programme’s appeal is the unique showcase it provides in bringing together emerging, mid-career and professional artists.”
