The Montreal International Black Film Festival (MIBFF) is proud to announce that it will be holding its 6th edition from September 22 to October 3, 2010 in Montreal. A 6th edition entirely dedicated to Haiti and its children.After a successful year of transition in 2009, moving from the Haitian Film Festival to The Montreal International Black Film Festival, the MIBFF is shining on the Montreal stage in a dynamic, refreshing and audacious way. The Festival wants to encourage the development of the independent film industry and to promote more films on the reality of Black people from around the world.
West Indians are expected to assemble this weekend in Jamaica, Queens, to laugh and sway to the highly successful Jamaican musical and comedic production "Wheel An' Come Again". Directed by Jamaican singer and producer Andrew Clarke, the New York-based Braata Folk Singers will showcase their 2011 hit production at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center (JPAC) this Saturday, March 10 at 8 p.m at 153-10 Jamaica Avenue in Queens.
In honor of Women’s History Month, Miami Dade College (MDC), will present numerous activities, including the upcoming concert, A Night with Jenny Love, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Kendall Campus. Love, an MDC alumna, will perform hits from great female performing artists. Born and raised in a very black-beans-and-rice culture, it was here in Miami that Love developed her musical tastes and interests. She began classical and jazz vocal training at age 13, while also performing with her father’s six-piece Latin band. In her teenage years, Love sang in gospel choirs throughout Miami and, with this experience, later created her own blend of Latin funk with a twist of powerhouse southern soul. Her candid readiness to experiment with musical genres has had a profound influence on the direction of her musical journey.

Some of the biggest names in American music are scheduled to perform at the seventh annual 'Jazz in the Gardens" music festival in South Florida this month. The two day even- March 17 and 18 - Will be staged on the grounds of the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens. Legendary Patti LaBelle, along with the talented Jill Scott and Mary J. Blige will head the line up, which also includes Ledisi, Nicole Henry, Kenny G, Doug E Fresh, Kevin Eubanks, Ramsey Lewis, the Jazz Crusaders and KEM.
