To be eligible for the scholarships, students must be a high school senior graduating from a Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach county high school during or before June 2017. Students must play or be involved in soccer as well as demonstrate financial need to attend college. Students are required to have a 2.5 GPA (B average or comparable on the scale).
Students must submit a 300-500 word essay on the impact soccer has made in their life. Only one submission per person. Online applications are available now at www.elclasicomiami.com.
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. EST on June 15, 2017 with finalists to be identified on July 7. All scholarship recipients, along with their head soccer coaches, will receive a free ticket to the Saturday, July 29 International Champions Cup presented by Heineken game at Hard Rock Stadium between Real Madrid CF and F.C. Barcelona. Winners will be announced at the game.
The 2017 International Champions Cup presented by Heineken will run from July 19 – 30 and feature 12 matches played across 11 cities throughout the United States. In total, eight teams from around the globe, including England (Manchester United F.C., Manchester City F.C., Tottenham Hotspur F.C.), Italy (Juventus F.C., AS Roma), France (Paris Saint-Germain F.C.) and Spain (FC Barcelona, Real Madrid C.F.) will compete in this year’s tournament.
