The Florida Caribbean Students Association (FCSA) is scheduled to host its 36th Conference at the University of South Florida on April 9th through April 11th 2010 under the theme, “Culture Shock: Spotlight on the Caribbean”. The FCSA conference is the leading Caribbean student event in Florida at which a wide cross section of Caribbean countries is represented.
ImageYoungArts, the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, will open its registration on March 15 for 17-18 year old high school senior artists in the literary, performing and visual arts (across the disciplines of Voice, Music, Jazz, Cinematic Arts, Writing, Photography, Theater, Dance and Visual Arts). YoungArts accepts applications from students from across the country through an online application process.
Sandra Thompson - Ph.D
Sandra T. Thompson, Ph.D. will address students, faculty, staff, and alumni at Florida Memorial University’s 131st Annual Founders’ Day Convocation as the keynote speaker on March 18, 2010 at 10:30am. The ceremony will be held at the Susie C. Holley Religious Center on campus. As the keynote speaker addressing the theme “Writing Women Back into History,” Dr. Thompson will also receive the prestigious Speaker’s Award as the first woman to serve as interim president of the institution.
Miami Dade College (MDC) Homestead Campus president Dr. Jeanne F. Jacobs has been selected to receive the Outstanding Woman in Education and Research award from Miami-Dade County. Dr. Jacobs will receive her award at the 22nd Annual In the Company of Women 2010 Awards Ceremony, to be held on March 18, 2010, at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. The award spotlights the accomplishments of an outstanding professional female leader in the community in Education and Research. Dr. Jacobs has served as president of the Homestead Campus of Miami Dade College since 2005.
