Miami Dade College (MDC) Homestead Campus president Dr. Jeanne F. Jacobs has been selected to receive the Outstanding Woman in Education and Research award from Miami-Dade County. Dr. Jacobs will receive her award at the 22nd Annual In the Company of Women 2010 Awards Ceremony, to be held on March 18, 2010, at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. The award spotlights the accomplishments of an outstanding professional female leader in the community in Education and Research. Dr. Jacobs has served as president of the Homestead Campus of Miami Dade College since 2005.
Miami Dade College’s (MDC) long-standing commitment to service and civic engagement has once again received national attention. This time, MDC has been named to the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement. It is also a past recipient of this honor.
Four South Florida Jamaican Alumni form an unprecedented partnership for the 3-day True Blue Event, April 16-18th, 2010 The St. Andrew Old Girls' Association Florida Inc., The Convent of Mercy Academy "Alpha" Association, Inc., The St. George's College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. and The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc have formed an unprecedented partnership to showcase the 3-day True Blue/Ziadie cup event April 16th -18th 2010. This joint effort, between these four organizations, is a first in South Florida amongst the Jamaican Alumni Association community.
Eighty applicants vying for the position of president at Florida Memorial University might learn of their standing in the national search sooner than expected. “The Presidential Search Committee plans to narrow down the list of candidates within the next thirty days,” confirmed local attorney JoLinda Herring, Esq., chair of the Search Committee and member of the Florida Memorial University Board of Trustees. “All of the applicants have excellent reputations and are leaders in the academic community,” she continued.
