UNESCO’s new Global Education Monitoring Report released on International Children’s Day highlights the significant impact that immigration policies in the United States are having on the education of migrant children. The 2019 Report, entitled Building bridges, not walls, draws particular attention to the obstacles that undocumented immigrants face in accessing education in the country.

Jose Muguira Iturralde opened the door to the cavernous lecture hall and he was shocked. This was at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, otherwise known as MIT, one of the world’s greatest universities, with a tradition dating back more than 150 years.

I lead!” was the call and response over 1,000 students chanted with speakers and organizers during the 6th Annual South Florida Youth Summit (SFYS) weekend, held October 18-20. Presented by L.E.A.D Nation in partnership with the Knight Foundation, the summit impacted students from across Dade and Broward counties representing schools like The SEED School, Miami Norland, Miramar High and others.
