Caribbean American Quits Campaign for U.S. President

Kamala Harris, once the lone remaining Caribbean American with a realistic chance of challenging Donald Trump for the job of United States president, has dropped out of the race.

president harris“Harris, Kamala”Harris, daughter of a Jamaican father, ended her campaign for nomination as the Democratic Party candidate to run against Trump in next November’s presidential election.The decision of the U.S. senator from California to withdraw followed a steady decline ofpolitical poll numbers, after earlier being among the frontrunners. Recent reports of discontent among her staff and confusion over strategy had also plagued her campaign.

In an e-mail written Dec. 3, Harris stated: "To you my supporters, it is with deep regret - but also with deep gratitude - that I am suspending my campaign today.”

She blamed lack of campaign funding for ending her run for the highest elected office in the U.S.

“… My campaign for president simply doesn't have the financial resources we need to continue,” Harris stated.
