Miami-Dade County’s Head Start/Early Head Start Program, operated by the Community Action Agency (CAA), has been providing families with early childhood development services for over 45 years. In many cases, it has become a tradition to have your child attend Head Start.

Nadirah Hendricks (29) a sales advisor at a local retailer in Leisure City has been a Head Start parent for over 8 years and currently has two children enrolled in the program at the Isaac A. Withers Center in Goulds. Ms. Hendricks knows the value of having a head start, having graduated from the program herself. Like many former participants who are now parents, she has brought her children to the program because she wanted them to have the same opportunity she herself had. ÃƒÆ’ƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…“The level of childcare is good, the service is exceptional and the teachers really care about the children”, she explains.

Among the many benefits for her and parents like her is that she is able to work knowing that her children are receiving the best care and education possible. ÃƒÆ’ƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…“Having them in Head Start has allowed me to work and provide for my family, when I think about it; I have to say thank God for Head Start!”

The Miami-Dade Head Start/Early Head Start Program serves more than 6,700 children each day throughout Miami-Dade County. Thousands of families rely on the services we provide to ensure that their children have the best opportunity possible to succeed. Nadirah Hendricks is just one of them.
