Friday, September 30, is the last day to take advantage of the special adoption fee of two cats and kittens for one price of $74.95 at the Broward County Animal Care Adoption Centers and all Pet Supermarket stores located in Broward County.

The special pricing is in response to the high number of cats and kittens received at the Adoption Center during breeding season. “Felines usually breed during the spring and summer months. So it is not unusual for us to receive a high number of mother cats and kittens during this time of year,” said Lisa Mendheim, public education coordinator, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption.

The Black Heroes Family Affair featured Dr. Julius W. Garvey MD, son of Pan-African Patriarch Marcus Garvey, as the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker, together with Guest Speaker Dr. Umar Abdullah Johnson, great, great, great grand nephew of African-American Abolitionist and Statesman Frederick Douglass.

The Black Heroes Family Affair celebrating the 124th anniversary of Marcus Garvey’s birth was hosted by the Rootz Foundation Inc. in association with the City of Fort Lauderdale Parks & Recreation Department.
