Dr. Henry Lewis IIIThe Florida Memorial University Board of Trustees has selected Henry Lewis III, Pharm.D. to serve as Florida Memorial University’s new president. The announcement was made during an afternoon meeting attended by nearly 300 faculty, staff and students anticipating an introduction of the new president-elect by Charles W. George, chairman of the Board of Trustees.
MIAMI, Fl – Residents showed up in droves at Tamiami Lakes Park on Saturday, March 31, 2012, for Chairman Joe A. Martinez' 9th Annual Easter Festival and Food Distribution. More than 3,000 people received free and nutritious food provided by Farm Share, totaling a distribution of approximately 82,000 pounds of food. Each grocery bag contained fresh produce – tomatoes, onions, green beans, peppers, cantaloupe – as well as10 pound frozen chicken bags, juice and canned goods.

The arrival of the Ambassador was celebrated with a banner honoring Spain as the 2010 World Cup Champions sponsored by the International Finance Bank.
Intended Results Incorporated will host a dinner and dance gala event in commemoration of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The event will be held under the theme “Brand Jamaica: Looking ahead to the next 50 years” on Saturday, July 7th, 2012 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and will include a keynote address by the Honorable Lisa Hanna, Minister of Youth and Culture in Jamaica. Miss Hanna, as a global figure was destined to lead and her leadership abilities were recognized from an early age. As a young girl, she worked as a volunteer with the World Hunger Project and the Jamaican Movement for the Advancement of Literacy. The United Nations Development Programme named her as a Goodwill Ambassador, one of the youngest ever to be appointed. In 1993, Miss Hanna won the Miss Jamaica World Title and then the coveted Miss World Title in the same year.
Jamaica’s Consul General, Sandra Grant Griffiths is inviting nominations for the Honour Roll of Jamaicans in the Southern USA, for service to their country and community as a part of the commemoration of the nation’s 50th anniversary of Independence. To mark the celebrations, the Consulate General will officially host the Jamaica 50th Honours Benefit Gala, “The Journey” to be held on Saturday, August 18, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in downtown Miami. The highlight of this event will be the recognition of fifty (50) Jamaicans for service to their country and community by the Government of Jamaica through its Miami Consulate General’s location.
