On February 4, more than 300 residents and officials of the Broward community celebrated the grand opening of the new Broward County Historical Commission and Museum at the site of the former West Side Grade School, located at 301 S.W. 13 (Harmon) Ave. in Fort Lauderdale in the historic Sailboat Bend neighborhood.

Each year, the artwork of one of the exhibiting artists from the St. Stephen’s Art Show is selected to be featured as the show’s main poster. Last night, festival committee members, volunteers, Coconut Grove patrons and members of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church gathered around the church’s Nepenthe Garden to celebrate the unveiling of this year’s chosen design. The artwork of Robin Lee Makowski, entitled “Bejeweled”, was selected as the show’s 2010 “Show Poster.”

U.S. Marines from the Wounded Warrior Regiment arrive at Miami International Airport to attend Super Bowl XLIV.
Forty-four wounded U.S. Marines were invited to the most anticipated football event of the year, Super Bowl XLIV at Sun Life Stadium, this past Sunday. The Marines, part of the Wounded Warrior Regiment, who were selected to attend the game were given a hero’s welcome at Miami International Airport by Vice-Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz, MIA officials and the honor guards for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Miami-Dade Police Department. Two groups of Marines from all over the country departed from MIA to their accommodations in preparation of the big game.
