Hundreds Fed at 16th Annual Thanksgiving Feast for the Homeless

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Broward Health Community Health Services hosted its annual Healthcare for the Homeless Thanksgiving Feastthis week. Broward Health employees, leadership and members of the Board of Commissioners provided a delicious meal and some holiday cheer for the community’s less fortunate.

Commissioner AngierNorth Broward Hospital District Board Commissioner Stacy Angier“This event is always a wonderful opportunity to give back,” said Broward Health President and CEO Gino Santorio. “The Thanksgiving Feast is just one example of Broward Health’s dedication to the community we serve, and I am grateful that I and so many from our team were able to be a part of it.”

This was the 16thannual luncheon at Broward Health Healthcare for the Homeless, which started out as a meal for patients during the week of Thanksgiving. The feastnow involves the entire hospital system and the Broward Health Foundation coming together to provide a holiday meal for the less fortunate in the community. The event also enjoys enormous support frommany professional, civic and religious organizations in the area.

Broward Health President CEO Gino Santorio“The Thanksgiving event has evolved into more than feeding our patients,” said Portia Anderson, nursemanager, Healthcare for the Homeless. “It is a day of food, fun and fellowship for and with the community that we serve. Our DJ turns up the music, the tables are draped in fine linen and decorated with colors of the season. The Thanksgiving Feast is one of the many ways in which Broward Health showcases our gratitude for the opportunity to serve our community.”

Broward Health Community Health Services estimates that more than 800 individuals were fed at this year’s Thanksgiving Luncheon.
