“This genuine, Jamaican shopping experience will see the Independence Village transformed into a vibrant market place, showcasing the rich offerings of Jamaica’s farmers.” said Orville Hill, Interim Executive Director at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).
He continued. “In addition to the fresh produce, the market will also have breakfast on sale and live entertainment to keep patrons busy while they shop.”
Hill also noted that in addition to the Augus’ Mawnin Market, the day’s activities will continue with the opening of the Independence Village at noon which features live performances, promotional booths and displays, a food court, a Kiddies Village and rides and other attractions including specular exhibitions by Institute of Jamaica and the National Library of Jamaica amongst others. The day will also end with the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Grand Coronation providing the night’s entertainment at 8:00 p.m.
