This initiative brings executives from the seven One Community One Goal target industries along with local entrepreneurs to high schools throughout Miami-Dade County to provide students with career guidance and career path information.
Last Tuesday, One Community One Goal took the Career Connections program to the 5th Annual MEGA NAF Student Industry Conference and hosted two panel sessions with more than 300 students.
The first panel included entrepreneurs Johanna Mikkola, co-founder of Wyncode and Kevin Michael, Managing Partner with Invisio.
The second panel consisted of One Community One Goal Co-Chairs, Maria C. Alonso, President & CEO, United Way of Miami-Dade and Penny S. Shaffer, Ph.D., Market President, South Florida, Florida Blue.
Students were given the opportunity to ask the panelists career growth questions which included the importance of building relationships, the significance of community involvement and how best to use social media.
This is another example of the how One Community One Goal is helping prepare our students for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
