Broward County Mayor Ken Keechl has announced that residents and County employees donated 2,392 pounds of food and toiletries. The donations benefit the Million Meals Committee, which distributes food to local food pantries and social services agencies throughout Broward County.
"I want to thank Broward residents and employees for their generosity," said Mayor Keechl. "I hope the momentum continues because there are many people who need our help."
Members of the Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce (JAUSACC) yesterday (Feb. 25) paid tribute to the many cultures inextricably linked to the development of Jamaica, at its second annual Reception in celebration of Black History Month.
The event themed ÃƒÆ’Ã†â€™Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¢ÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…Â¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¬ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Â¦ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œVoices of JamaicaÃƒÆ’Ã†â€™Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¢ÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…Â¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¬ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â was organized by the JAUSACC and partnered with the Kiwanis Club of Kendall/South Dade in recognition of the vision and achievements of Jamaicans and the wider Caribbean Diaspora to the development of their adopted homeland through culture, economic and socio-political contributions.
