Banco Sabadell announced that it completed the acquisition of Miami-based Mellon United National Bank (MUNB) after obtaining necessary approvals from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Bank of Spain, Spain’s Central Bank.The acquisition creates the 6th largest local bank based in Miami in terms of deposits. Sabadell group now manages a total of $6.4 billion dollars of business (investment and funds). Banco Sabadell acquired a total $1,675 million dollars in deposits and $875 million dollars in loans (60% of the loan book) after selecting the assets to be included in the MUNB deal. MUNB has fifteen branches in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) today announced that it has named Yvette Hollingsworth chief compliance officer. Hollingsworth, who most recently served as managing director and global head of Operations Compliance and Financial Crimes Compliance & Risk Management for Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank, will begin her new role on June 1, 2012. She succeeds Tim Marrinan, who announced his retirement late last year. Hollingsworth will be based in San Francisco, California and will report to Caryl Athanasiu, executive vice president and chief operational risk officer in the Corporate Risk group.“We are delighted to welcome Yvette to our Corporate Risk team at Wells Fargo,” said Mike Loughlin, chief risk officer and head of Corporate Risk.

At JN Real Estate Fair in Florida There is increased interest in the Jamaican real estate market, Florida residents learned, at the JN Real Estate Fair, held at the Inverrary Country Club, in Lauderhill on April 22.  The event, which received an overwhelming response from Jamaicans living in the state, was attended by more than 400 persons. Wanica Purkiss, Executive, Mortgage and Operations, at Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS), shared with the attendees that interest rates are the lowest they have been in 30 years; the building construction sector is exploring reduced construction costs; and within the past three years, the Government of Jamaica has reduced Transfer Tax and Stamp Duty to the lowest they have ever been.
